In CompassLab we consider that all information, besides relevant, must be presented in an aesthetically attractive and effective way. In order to achieve this goal, we combine expertise in social analysis to a visually appealing presentation.

We train researchers in spatial analysis and provide students with skills highly demanded by the labour market.

We put our know-how at the disposal of the academia, public institutions, political parties, and other organizations.

Our Work

Research and Innovation

We develop new analytical techniques and spatial representations based on three academic disciplines: Political Science (eletoral studies and public policy), Sociology (sociodemographic analysis) and Applied Economics (economic and econometric analyses).

Teaching and Training

We offer courses and training in spatial analysis techniques for the academic community and professionals, including teachers, students and other professionals. Our catalog includes introductory and advanced courses in spatial analysis as well as targeted training for groups, such as electoral analysis, crime mapping or public policy management.

Transfer and Consulting

We make our analyses, techniques and representations available to the academic community, public institutions, political parties, NGOs and companies. In this respect, we assist research projects as well as provide tailored solutions based on specific demands.

Our Work

The Lab

CompassLab is born in 2015 as a project led by young researchers from the University of Salamanca. Some of the disciplines involved are: Political Science, Law, Sociology and Applied Economics.

Our mission is to perform and foster, within and outside university walls, spatial analyses that are precise, impartial and rooted in scholarly research.

Our specific fields of intervention include:

Sociopolitical spatial analysis applied to public management, political analysis and electoral campaigns.
Spatial analyses of publics / electorates / markets according to multiple social variables (Geodemographics).
Spatial analyses applied to criminology and crime mapping.
The spatiality of the economy.
